2022 Psychology group

Good evening, everyone. I am Christian Massillon, a senior undergraduate psychology student at the University de Notre Dame de Haiti and it is an honor for me tonight in the name of the psychology group. Since April we’ve been attending the UDH Health Coach Mentorship and internship program regularly. Eight months later we are now at the end of the session. It was quite a beautiful journey, the program was the occasion for us to learn about the leading attitudes, about the health practice on an international standard. For us psychology students have the chance to discover new concepts, to review things we already know, and to dig further. Also, this program gave us a taste of the multidisciplinary approach. The mentorship and internship program also helped us to improve our English, specifically its use in the academic context. Moreover, we have the chance to benefit from tools that can help us for the future both in our personal and our professional lives. Here we are talking about self-care and well-being; the smart goal, PDSA, the CV, personal statement and how to make a good PowerPoint presentation, etc. I cannot end this speech without thanking the UDH Health Coach staff, especially thanks to Mr. Alix Simeon, Dr. Marie Jean-Baptist, and Dr. Brutus who understood us, was always there for us and pushed us to do better. We also thank Dr. Frantz Simeon and Dr. Moise who were our group coach at some point. We also want to express our gratitude to CHA for pursuing this initiative. The psychology group also thanks all the students for their collaboration, making this semester a pleasant and fun experience. Last but not least, we want to wish the organization specially “KwenSante”a happy 10th anniversary and we hope that God blesses UDHHHC with longevity so they can continue their service in the Haitian community. Thank you.

2022 Testimony of Coty Mayleina on Behalf On The Medical Team.

Testimony of Coty Mayleina.

Thank you, Doctor Jean-Baptiste, good evening, everyone my name is Mayleina Coty I’m currently in my fifth year of medicine at the University de Notre Dame de Haiti, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and I joined UDH Health Coach Program this year. On behalf of my medical colleagues, I can say that our experience with the program has been very fruitful both on a personal and professional level. Coming from different disciplines and in some cases, different cultures, we have learned to collaborate together, and to understand each other in order to achieve good final work; and our level of English has clearly changed, and we intend to practice a little bit more every day. Some gaps have been filled and especially in epidemiology, our presentation on neuroanatomy has allowed us to review on different notions since at the beginning of our medical studies and with the clinical case, our diagnostic approaches and our interrogations method have been greatly improved. This program has allowed us to be more updated and so we close on concepts in before and our medical strategies which is obviously a blast for our future. We would like to thank the UDH Health Coach team for coming with this great program, and our coaches for the patience, support, and looking forward to the next sessions to continue to work and learn together, thank you everyone.

Faculty of Nursing Sciences UNDH (P-AU-P)

Faculty of Nursing Sciences UNDH (P-AU-P)

On behalf of the entire team of the Faculty of Nursing Sciences of the University Notre Dame Haiti, I thank the entire UDH Health Coach Team and can’t emphasize enough how important this was for our Nurse Teachers.

Thank you Mr. Alix Siméon for this training which the UNDH nurses have benefited from thanks to your determination. Today is a day of joy and appreciation for all the efforts made to complete this training.

Congratulations to all those who participated in this program and more specifically to the three UNDH nurses who passed all the modules. My dear colleagues today you are rightly savoring your hour of glory because you have prepared and worked for it. Congratulations!

As a Nurse Educator and Dean of a Faculty, I can tell you that at a certain point in your career, passing on your knowledge becomes second nature for some health professionals. One then becomes useful as a trainer to other health professionals. This is the case for nurses who teach. Indeed, transmitting one’s knowledge requires specific skills, mainly in terms of pedagogy. It is undeniable that the trainer must have a certain appetite for teaching in order to be successful. It’s also important that they have several years of experience in different fields to have a solid knowledge of the profession and its nuances. Hence the importance of this training organized by UDHHC. They offered participants the opportunity to reflect on their own practices in order to assert themselves in their role as a referent, whether in front of their colleagues or students. Clearer with the pedagogical foundations useful for supporting students, the practitioner trainer brings real added value to develop his entire team towards meaningful support practices. Knowing that currently in our various training institutions:

  • On the one hand, there is a severe lack of continuing education for executives working in the field of health.
  • On the other hand, the digital space represents a significant asset for training; however, its lack of human interaction is a weakness, making it less attractive for teachers and students.

So, I can say that this training makes it possible to underline two essential elements in the future of the profession and the training of nurses. One, being the necessary implication in the research of the profession and, the other being a reconsideration regarding the role of the trainer as orienting more towards a posture of accompaniment.

All our gratitude to UDHHC for having put a mixed team of recognized trainers to help in the training of nurses.

Thanks!

Esther JOSEPH MSN, RN Dean Faculty of Nursing Sciences / UNDH

Born on June 28, 1966 (age 55 years) Joseph Anthony Curtatone has been the mayor of Somerville, Massachusetts since 2004. On Sunday December 12, Joe visited Saint Anne Church where the Somerville Haitian community worship. He took the opportunity to acknowledge Rev. Father Gustave Miracle and Sister Aurore Dorcely for their leadership in the Haitian community. Both received an award from the 19 term Somerville Mayor.       Joe is a very good friend of UDH Health Coach. He applauds the great formatting work that UDHHC is doing with the medical and nursing students as well as their outreach to the Haitian community living in Somerville. UDHHC is renewing its commitment to the Haitian student

UDHHC is renewing its commitment to the Haitian student community. We continue to invest in our young people working in healthcare in Haiti by giving them access to quality training that meets international standards. Since 2016, we’ve been training the leaders of tomorrow. This generation of students is passionate, skilled, and more than ready to serve their community. We would like to thank all those who, through their dedication, discipline and hard work, made the last academic year possible. We’d like to especially thank the team that carried out our research project on Covid-19. The project was called Investigation, Knowledge, and Attitudes toward COVID-19.  The last year came with great challenges, and we had to adapt to the stressful environment caused by the worldwide pandemic. We felt we were successful in meeting that challenge. Today we officially start our new recruitment period. We are now sending out invitations to new potential members. We’re seeking enthusiastic, dedicated, focused young people capable of actively working with UDHHC on new projects for the upcoming year, 2022. We offer online courses based on a well-defined curriculum. We help carry out research in a structured way according to the IRB’s standards. Haitian students working with UDHHC will be guaranteed medical supervision and psychological coaching. At the end of this term, students will have acquired the skills essential for a standardized medical career.
