“My journey with UDH began at an American College of Physicians (ACP) event in Massachusetts this past September. I had recently obtained my ECFMG certification and was looking to connect with doctors who weren’t just practicing medicine, but who were actively making a tangible difference in their communities.
That is when I heard Dr. Jean-Baptiste speak on ‘bridging the gap’ in healthcare. I was completely captivated. Through her and Alain, whom I also met that day, I learned about the true breadth of the UDH mission. I realized quickly that this isn’t just a coaching program, it is a movement. From cooking classes and community education to impactful media like their radio show, UDH is addressing health disparities from every angle. I knew immediately that I had to get involved.
Since joining, the experience has been nothing short of transformative. The multidisciplinary online classes are a beautiful example of how we ‘create magic’ together. Every Sunday, I sit down with physicians, psychologists, dentists, and nurses to discuss vital healthcare topics. It is a rare and powerful thing to learn from such diverse clinical perspectives in one virtual room, providing a holistic view of patient care that is often missing in standard training.
My time at the Windsor Clinic has been equally empowering. Despite being new to the team, the leadership, especially Mr. Simeon, who is the heart of this program, has made me feel like a vital contributor. He personally ensured my transition was smooth, providing access to essential tools like EHR and UpToDate. The mentorship here provides exactly the kind of resources and support someone on the path to a successful residency seeks. I get to observe Dr. Jean Baptiste, her patient care and learn from her every day.
