Shutting down the radio at the end of the month

Dear UDH health Coach Friends and Supporters, it is with great sadness that we are informing you that we may be shutting down the radio at the end of the month. As you know we rely mostly on fundraisers and the occasional grant. Our last scheduled fundraiser was canceled due to the pandemic. Shutting down the program would be a real blow to the Haitian community with all we’ve been doing to spread awareness especially in these times. Since the pandemic’s outbreak, we have done a lot as far as culturally appropriate education on Covid 19. We’ve covered prevention, pathophysiology, cardiogenic shock, ARDS, and septic shock. On behalf of UDH Health Coach, we are thankful for your support over the years.

PS -I have been trying to look at grant opportunities but unfortunately it can be difficult and time-consuming. In the future, we hope to continue our other programs and activities if our finances permit it.

All the best,

Malou

David Neparstek Community Mentor Award 2020

Dear Dr. Jean-Baptiste,
It is my honor and pleasure to inform you that that you have been selected for the David Neparstek Community Mentor Award this year by the Applied Learning Experience (ALE) Course Directors in the Tufts University School of Medicine Public Health Program.  Congratulations!
This award is given annually to a public health professional who demonstrates a commitment to excellence through their work as practitioner and mentor. The award honors the contributions of David Neparstek who has consistently served the students of the MPH Program as a teacher, mentor and preceptor.
In usual years, we would present you with the award in person at our annual commencement dinner in May.  But this is not an ordinary year, and so the award will be mailed to you.  Yakeisha Gray (cc:ed here) will follow up with you for your mailing address.
Even though we will not be able to honor you in person this year, please know that we here at the Tufts MPH program truly appreciate the time and energy that you have spent over the years mentoring and directing our MPH students.  Your good work is core to public health and we are glad that our students have had a chance to learn from you.
Thank you again for your service, teaching, and mentoring.

Sincerely,
Ginny Chomitz

COVID-19 coronavirus

Over the past several weeks COVID-19, the disease caused by a new strain of coronavirus, has caused widespread disruption throughout the world.  More than 750 cases have been detected in the U.S. As the virus continues to spread , we have been faced with the difficult decision whether to defer our Annual Auction Gala event as we seek to address our members’ and donors’ health concerns.
UDH Health Coach Inc. has decided to postpone UDH’s Annual Gala, which was slated to take place on:  Saturday, March 28th, 2020 at The Arts of Armory Center 191 Highland Ave Somerville, MA 02143.   As you know, your support is crucial to our organization, enabling us to continue supporting Haitian medical and nursing students and broadcasting our weekly Radio Show “Kwen Santé”.
If you’ve already purchased your ticket to our Gala, please be aware that it is still valid and will be honored at the rescheduled event, the date of which will be announced in the near future.
 –  In the meantime UDHHC encourages each and everyone of you to stay focused and avoid exposure to the virus and is sharing some standard precautions to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus, as follows:

–          Washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

–          Using alcohol-based hand rubs and gels.

–          Avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

–          Avoiding close contact with people who are sick

–          Staying home when you are sick.

–          Covering your cough or sneeze.

–          Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces
