My name is Brianna Bolivar and it is my pleasure to be working closely with UDH_HC team, specifically with the evaluation team. I am a recent graduate of the University of Massachusetts class of 2022. I obtained my Bachelor’s of Science degree in Public Health and Health Sciences and currently work as a project manager, specializing in qualitative methodology of patient experience centered research. An aspiring Physician Assistant and future Masters of  Public Health candidate motivated by addressing health and wellness with a holistic approach, through a public health lens. I look forward to contributing my intention to this amazing organization.

Born on June 28, 1966 (age 55 years) Joseph Anthony Curtatone has been the mayor of Somerville, Massachusetts since 2004. On Sunday December 12, Joe visited Saint Anne Church where the Somerville Haitian community worship. He took the opportunity to acknowledge Rev. Father Gustave Miracle and Sister Aurore Dorcely for their leadership in the Haitian community. Both received an award from the 19 term Somerville Mayor.       Joe is a very good friend of UDH Health Coach. He applauds the great formatting work that UDHHC is doing with the medical and nursing students as well as their outreach to the Haitian community living in Somerville. Boston Herald Reported: Speculation that Somerville Mayor Joseph Curtatone had set his sights on the governor’s race was laid to rest with the announcement he will instead take the reins at the Northeast Clean Energy Council next year

COVID-19 coronavirus

Over the past several weeks COVID-19, the disease caused by a new strain of coronavirus, has caused widespread disruption throughout the world.  More than 750 cases have been detected in the U.S. As the virus continues to spread , we have been faced with the difficult decision whether to defer our Annual Auction Gala event as we seek to address our members’ and donors’ health concerns.
UDH Health Coach Inc. has decided to postpone UDH’s Annual Gala, which was slated to take place on:  Saturday, March 28th, 2020 at The Arts of Armory Center 191 Highland Ave Somerville, MA 02143.   As you know, your support is crucial to our organization, enabling us to continue supporting Haitian medical and nursing students and broadcasting our weekly Radio Show “Kwen Santé”.
If you’ve already purchased your ticket to our Gala, please be aware that it is still valid and will be honored at the rescheduled event, the date of which will be announced in the near future.
 –  In the meantime UDHHC encourages each and everyone of you to stay focused and avoid exposure to the virus and is sharing some standard precautions to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus, as follows:

–          Washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

–          Using alcohol-based hand rubs and gels.

–          Avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

–          Avoiding close contact with people who are sick

–          Staying home when you are sick.

–          Covering your cough or sneeze.

–          Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces

UDH Health Coach have a weekly broadcast radio show

UDH Health Coach have a weekly broadcast radio show that educates Haitian community on different medical topics, also raising public awareness about primary care and empowering patients to take care themselves. UDH Health Coach goal is to promote preventive medicine through this radio program as a platform to reach out to the Haitian community for overall health well being. The topics covered on the radio show are chosen based on the health care provider facing challenges and different obstacles taking care of Haitians patients . For example: Haitians tend to present late with advanced diseases;  they often miss the appointment;  It is often hard to convince them to do cancer screening tests. As one of the few of those barriers

Topics covered are the followings:  bone health, dental health, mental health and the importance of mental health assistance, obesity and its consequences,  diabetes and its consequences, obstructive sleep apnea, Types of screening such as mammography, pap smear, colonoscopy etc., as a few of those barriers.
